Below is a list of positions and description of jobs currently available within Ohio University Event Sevices.

Connecting the upper and lower campus, Baker University Center is a vibrant hub, welcoming and serving all members of our community including University students, faculty, and staff, parents, alumni, community members, and other campus visitors.  The Center offers state-of-the-art conference and event spaces, extensive support for students and their leadership development, exciting dining options, comfortable places to be, and service that will exceed your expectations. Also, located on Ohio University’s historic College Green, the 2,000 seat Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium (MemAud, The Aud) plays host to a wide variety of events – from nationally-touring concerts, plays, and musicals, to new student admission sessions and keynote speakers.

Description

Building Manager
Position currently closed

The Building Manager oversees the daily operation of Baker University Center. The Building Manager works closely with the Operations Coordinator and Graduate Assistant for Operations to manage event logistics including setups, access, and general customer service. A Building Manager is a team leader that oversees other student positions in Baker Center.

Assistant Stage Manager
Position currently closed

The Assistant Stage Manager, under the supervision of the Assistant Technical Director, will supervise aspects of the stage area and production support areas of Memorial Auditorium. Responsibilities include handling events, over-seeing payroll, meetings, communication with staff, and meeting safety requirements. Schedule varies by event, but will include 6 regularly scheduled hours per week as described below.  This position is typically held for one academic quarter, and is intended to serve as an on the job training position, under the supervision of the Stage Managers and Assistant Technical Director.

Usher Manager
Position currently closed

The Usher Staff provide Front of House support during large, mostly ticketed events.  Demonstrating quality customer service, the Usher Staff are responsible for entry and exit of guests, seating assignments, and creating a welcoming and friendly atmosphere in the Ohio University Event Services venues for all guests and visitors.

Production Assistant

The Production Assistant, under the supervision of the Production Manager, will be responsible for supervising all aspects of event payroll, billing, and purchasing, and general production department office operations.  Responsibilities include Performing Arts Series responsibilities, payroll and purchase tracking, crew scheduling and management, and catering / hospitality and company management for other major events. Schedule varies by event, but will include 12 regularly scheduled hours per week as described below.

Guest Services Assistant

The Guest Services assistant is a team player committed to the Office of Event Services and its efficient operation. The Guest Services assistant will serve as a resource to the patrons of Baker University Center, providing customer services to the general public, university departments, and students. The Guest Services assistant will take reservations for space in Baker University Center, Walter Hall Rotunda, Galbreath Chapel, Templeton Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium and all outdoor spaces. Attention to detail when taking reservations and assisting customers with their event planning questions and requests is essential. Basic computer knowledge, excellent telephone etiquette and strong communication skills are important qualities for the successful Guest Services assistant.

Conference Assistant

The student conference assistant (CA) fulfills a part-time student position within the Baker University Center. Students are involved with the direct set-up of conference rooms, lounges, and programming spaces, as well as light custodial duties throughout the building. The student conference assistant is a team member with the ultimate goal of providing excellent customer service to all guests, staff, and fellow students using the Center. .

Stage Hand
Position currently closed

The Stage Hand, under the supervision of the Stage Manager, will be working on the preparation and presentation of a variety of events facilitated by the Office of Event Services, as well as any maintenance and operational needs as assigned. Responsibilities vary due to the nature of the production and office.

Event Technician

The Event Technician works with the Technical Coordinator, Assistant and Associate Director of Production and Operations to assist in fulfilling the live audio and lighting needs of various organizations within Baker University Center and at other campus locations.

Audio Technician
Position currently closed

The Audio Technician, under the supervision of the Technical Coordinator, will be responsible for supervising the Event Services PA systems and equipment, equipment usage and maintenance, and act as Audio Engineer for events as assigned.  Responsibilities also include maintaining consumable supply inventories and placing orders through the Technical Director for additional supplies. Schedule varies by event, but will include 4 regularly scheduled hours per week.

Electrician
Position currently closed

The Master Electrician, under the supervision of the Technical Coordinators, will be responsible for supervising the theatrical and architectural lighting systems, theatrical lighting fixtures, equipment usage and maintenance, and act as Production Electrician for events as assigned.  Responsibilities also include maintaining consumable supply inventories and placing orders through the Technical Coordinators for additional supplies. Schedule varies by event, but will include 6 regularly scheduled hours per week.
